The latest 'Snapshot' of the West Sussex economy is now available

View the latest 'Snapshot Report' from West Sussex County Council.

The monthly 'Snapshot' of the local West Sussex economy is now live on Business West Sussex. The report gives a summary of key headline data, both nationally and on a county level with insight.

 

Some key statistics from the October report include:

  • A total of 65% of self-employed in West Sussex have taken up the government Self-Employment Income Support Scheme by the end of September
  • Whilst the numbers of people on furlough schemes is decreasing, Crawley continues to have one of the highest take up rates in the country
  • The national economy grew by 2.1% in August 2020, but remains 9.2% below the Feb 2020 pre-pandemic level
  • In September 2020 there were 27,890 claimants in West Sussex aged 16+ of JSA/Universal Credit for the principal reason of being out of work
  • The percentage of 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit in West Sussex has risen from 4.2% in September 2019 to 12% in September 2020
