WSSEN West Sussex Social Enterprise Network

Welcome to the West Sussex Social Enterprise Network (WSSEN) pages.

If you are running a social enterprise, would like to set one up, or would just like to know more about social enterprise, then this site is for you. On these pages you can find out about what support is available, the latest news in the world of social enterprise and identify useful contacts.

The term 'social enterprise' is used to describe a business model where profit is reinvested principally to fulfill social objectives or to grow the business, rather than maximise profit for shareholders and owners. Examples of social enterprises include some cooperatives and staff mutuals, social firms, community interest companies, some companies limited by guarantee or shares and community enterprises.

We focus our efforts both on business startups and on existing social enterprises that wish to expand and grow, as well as promoting and raising the profile of social enterprise providing access to support, advice and information.

Register to receive information about social enterprise news and events by sending your contact details to social.enterprise@westsussex.gov.uk, you can also register your details on our social enterprise directory.

Featured Social Enterprise

Our current featured social enterprise is the Oxmarket Centre of Arts.

The Oxmarket Centre of Arts is a social enterprise who received grant funding in 2014 in order to establish itself in the corporate entertaining market.  The Oxmarket is a charity which exists to support and promote local and emerging artists and to bring quality art to the community.

It hosts over 150 different exhibitions each year. It is housed in a magnificent converted Medieval church in the heart of Chichester with parking right on its doorstep, an ideal venue for staff and client entertaining.
