Your Energy Sussex

Your Energy Sussex (YES) is a partnership between all 15 Sussex local authorities, led by West Sussex County Council, working with businesses and residents to drive energy saving and renewable energy. The aim is to cut bills, reduce emissions and create efficient and profitable businesses and warm and healthy homes.

Your Energy Sussex, formerly the Sussex Energy Saving Partnership, is making maximum use of Government schemes such as Green Deal, the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and other funding sources to install energy saving and renewable heat and electricity measures in up to 680,000 households over the next 25 years and help businesses to become more energy efficient.

Live projects include:

  • A major programme to audit and refurbish 120 WSCC buildings and 32 schools;
  • Detailed proposals in place for a number of large scale solar PV installations and other energy saving ‘retro fit’ measures on social housing across Sussex;
  • Plans for two community energy projects at Shoreham Harbour and East Grinstead;
  • An initial £70,000 of boiler replacement and insulation work completed on houses occupied by residents who are elderly, vulnerable or in receipt of qualifying benefits;
  • Mentoring support provided to 10 local community energy programmes;
  • Plans in place for a solar farm in West Sussex that, subject to planning, could provide power to 850 homes.
