Economic Growth

West Sussex County Council has an Economic Growth Team, working with colleagues, partners and the local business community to help achieve the Council’s commitment to support businesses, and create a vibrant local economy.

The Economic Growth Team is involved in leading and delivering a broad range of activities, including:

  • Supporting business - Engaging effectively with local businesses, supporting them to start, stay and grow in West Sussex.
  • Bidding for European funding for rural businesses through the LEADER programme
  • Invest West Sussex - promoting the county as a great place to do business, to those considering moving or expanding in the county, and providing up to date information on commercial property
  • Championing the economy and businesses - helping to ensure economic and business issues are considered in County Council decisions, and by other County Council services
  • Growth locations - working with our partners to help create the conditions for significant economic growth in key locations
  • Data and intelligence - analysing and using key economic performance data to inform activities and future plans

The Economic Growth Team works closely with the county’s seven District and Borough councils, the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership, and the three Spatial Area Partnerships: West Sussex Rural Partnership, Gatwick Diamond Initiative, and Coastal West Sussex Partnership.
